Sedec-order: one board at a time
In Sedec-order the boards open one at a time, from board 1 to board 16. You can only see the colors of the board that is open. When you solve it, the next board opens and shows how all your earlier guesses scored on it.
A board only counts as solved if you guess its word while it is open, so a lucky early guess of board 9's word doesn't count until board 9 opens. Because of that, you get 23 guesses instead of 21.
Frequently asked questions
How does Sedec-order work?
In Sedec-order the sixteen boards open one at a time, from board 1 to board 16. You only see the colors of the open board. When you solve it, the next board opens and shows how all your earlier guesses scored on it, so every guess you make still gives you information.
Why does Sedec-order have 23 guesses?
A board only counts as solved if you guess its word while that board is open. A lucky early guess of a later board's word does not count until that board opens, so you sometimes have to type the same word twice. The two extra guesses make up for that.
Is there a daily Sedec-order puzzle?
Yes. Sedec-order has its own daily puzzle, with sixteen words that differ from the classic daily, and it resets at midnight in your time zone. Press Practice above the boards for unlimited Sedec-order games, and look up the daily words on the answers page if you get stuck.
What is the best strategy for Sedec-order?
Use your first guesses on words with common letters, because their colors carry over to every board as it opens. Solve each board as soon as you can, since nothing else counts until you do. When two words fit the open board, pick the one that also helps the boards still to come.
Does Sedec-order keep separate statistics?
Yes. Sedec-order has its own statistics, streak and guess distribution, apart from the classic game and Savior. Your Sedec-order streak only grows when you finish its daily puzzle, and practice games are counted separately again, so each record shows exactly how well you play that mode.
